The first two episodes of Season 2, where Discord hypnotizes the mane cast, were awkward for me on account of hypnosis being my biggest fetish.

Yeah, that came across as sexual to me.

99% of the show comes across as sexual, according to the fandom.

That’s because Rainbow Dash, (and to a lesser extent) Applejack and Twilight Sparkle are sexy.
(Or at least they would be if they were human women and not cartoon horses.)
But yeah, a lot of Bronies (although that could just apply to humanity in general) see sexual things in events that obviously aren’t.
As for DisQord (to get back on topic), the clue’s in the nickname. (ie. Q from Star Trek acted in an in-your-face, pseudo-sexual way as well.)

I really hope Big Mac and Fluttershy get together. Hearts and Hooves Day almost ruined my Fluttermac fanon ship and I’m glad it didn’t.

TL;DR: Don’t get your hopes up, mate.
Okay: so from the start we know this person is in denial. Had s/he watched Bleach and instead commented on his/her hopes for an Inoue-Ichigo canon I would be totally okay because the original story hints strongly that at least one party wants it.
Then there are the relationship gurus (read: relationship retards) out there who will come up with the most ridiculous and pathetic connection between characters. To make it more relevant lets bring to light Celestia-Discord (or Luna-Discord for the sob-story suckers).
The logic is this: Celestia fought Discord about a 1000 years ago to stop his evil tyranny of chaos and malice. He was essentially torturing the ponies of Equestria with his powers for his own entertainment without a single moment of pause. Unable to defeat him, because this badass mother fucker was not about to go down without a fight, Celestia was forced to resort to the next best thing: turning him into stone to take away his powers.
These relationship retards (and I don’t mean mentally challenged) will look at Celestia’s struggle against the evil Discord and say “wow, she really wanted to fuck his brains out.” and come up with all sorts of disturbing reasons as to how they come to be romantically involved (typically involves Celestia seemingly not giving a flying fuck about her people)
How, in the fucking world, could someone like Princess Celestia - a good at heart and well-intentioned individual - even begin to think the first good thought about Discord? You dense mother fuckers!
Then, of course, there’s these guys: the guys who tries to ship, not what is already implied/possible or absolutely impossible because said pair is trying to get the other one killed for specific reasons, but, those who have absolutely nothing going for them. Fuck, even Braeburn has more on-screen time with Fluttershy, and they did not even exchange a damn word, but Fluttershy and Big Mac have only shared one scene (that I can readily recall): in The Last Round Up when everyone is waiting to welcome Applejack home, Big Mac hides by the door, whilst Fluttershy hides behind the ceiling supports, with Rainbow Dash.
Let’s not even get into the thorny details about the fact that Big Mac already has a strongly implied friendship; or should I say friendship, with Cheerilee?
“But CheeriMac makes no sense because they winked at each other!” I hear you cry.
Fair enough, let’s assume that the universal human tell for ‘trust me’ means ‘I lied’, because that is not what winking means. At the end of the episode Hearts and Hooves Day, CheeriMac is completely killed off because of a wink. Well done! Now, when did FlutterMac make any kind of scene in the show? Oh yeah, it did not. Because they way it looks right now, none of the story writers have any intention of letting these two characters interact.
What would they even say?
Big Mac: “…”
Fluttershy: “…”
That’s pretty much what FlutterMac shippers has to work with. That is their only material for this ship, because that’s what canon has given you.
Deal with it.

Gotta totally agree with you on the FlutterMac thing.
CheeriMac and FlutterDash FTW.
And I think the reason most people ship Celestia and DisQord together is because of Q (who was still a douchebag but wasn’t evil evil) and the whole “Trollestia” thing.
Maybe put Discord into a “Deja Q” type story or something. That’ll learn him.
Of course, any ships I “support” that are only loosely supported by canon (or only supported by fanon) can be easily destroyed by that canon.
And I only ship (and I don’t really actively ship) for the fun of it.

I think Discord is extremely overrated. He was cool for a few moments but got real boring and annoying real fast. When I first got into the series everyone would give me tremendous hype about him. Once I saw his episodes, I wound up thinking to myself “That’s it? THAT’S the ‘amazing’ Discord?” and wound up not caring.
Yeah his design is pretty neat, and yeah he was voiced by an awesome actor. I just think people only like him because he’s “crazy and weird”, a concept that’s overglorified on the internet. If he were in more episodes maybe I’d consider liking him.

I guess you have to be a Star Trek fan to “get” Discord.
Not that I’m complaining about non-Trekkies (or Trekkies who dislike either Q or Discord), but yeah.
I do agree that he needs more episodes, though.
